Who am I?

Hi there, my name is Ivan Mendez! I am a Icelandic-Colombian musician, songwriter, audio engineer, and voice actor. 

I have a deep passion for creating music, performing, singing, making voices, and developing concept projects.

Since 2018, I have released a substantial catalogue of music and explored a variety of genres (commercial pop, folk-rock, indie pop, ambient, world music, and meditational music), both under my name and pseudonyms. During these years I have also had opportunities to perform with many wonderful artists in Iceland, Germany, Latvia, and other places.

As a vocalist, I have sung with bands, as a solo artist, with gospel choirs, and even a traditional Icelandic men's choir as a tenor. But even before I became a vocalist I was fascinated with the human voice. As a kid I loved producing strange sounds and pretending I was characters I had seen on television or heard on the radio. I never intended to get into voice acting, but already being a vocalist and audio engineer the role came to me naturally. Today I have been fortune enough to use my voice for animation, video games, advertisements, documentaries, explainer videos, on-hold greetings, Instagram content, and more!

In 2022 I received a first class honours degree from my B.A studies in "Sound Engineer and Audio Production" at Catalyst: Institute of Modern Arts, in Berlin. My passion for music lies in creating it, but as I developed as a songwriter and composer, I began to realize one very important point: you can write amazing music, but if it doesn't sound great and come through clearly from the speakers, no one will understand what you are trying to convey! 

Once I realized this, a new obsession took hold of my brain. Learning and understanding the art of producing and mixing music. Till this day I have produced most of my own musical projects, along with projects for other musicians and clients.
